About Us

A whistleblower is a person who reveals misconduct by his or her employer or another business. The misconduct may be in the form of breaking the law, committing fraud, or corruption. Whistleblowers are the public's watchdogs in many vital businesses and industries. Reporting abuse, fraud, and misconduct in the public and private sectors is an important public service.

Under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and Dodd-Frank Act, employees are protected against retaliation when they provide information about their employer to the SEC or CFTC. In addition, Dodd-Frank allows employees to sue their employers in federal court, and, if successful in proving retaliation, to win reinstatement, double back pay with interest, and attorneys' fees.

The Dodd-Frank Act requires the SEC to reward whistleblowers who voluntarily provide original information regarding securities violations or bribes paid to foreign officials in violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) 10 to 30 percent of any monetary recovery of over $1 million that the SEC obtains from the offending party through enforcement actions.
